Bowling News USA - September 10, 2012 Storm Regional Round-up

Rob Gotchall, Dave Axon and Kyle Troup Post PBA Regional Wins with Storm, Roto Grip Equipment.

Storm and Roto Grip continue to dominate the Professional Bowling circuits, posting three PBA Regional wins over the weekend.

Storm staffer Rob Gotchall won his first PBA regional title (Scorpion pattern) at the Thunderbowl Open in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Gotchall downed Duane Kilts 257-235 in the final, collecting $2200 for first place.

Gotchall used two IQ Tours™, for the win.

"I used two different IQ Tours, one pin up, one pin down," said Gotchall. "Both roughly
5" pins from my axis. The balls were the perfect match for the pattern. I used the pin down
one on the fresh with a glazed out of box finish to smooth out the
lane and ball reaction to keep me out of trouble. As the lane oil carried
down, I was able to switch to the pin up one, with a slightly shinier
surface and move left. I could get aggressive and go for big games."

Also at Thunderbowl, Dave Axon won the PBA Midwestern Senior Open defeating Storm staffer Jeff Richgels in the championship match, 268-258.

Axon used a Storm Virtual Gravity™ Nano on his way to the $1700 first place prize (Scorpion pattern). Richgels used an IQ™,  Reign Supreme™ and Victory Road™ Solid.

In the PBA Southern Region, Kyle Troup took home top honors at the 3rd Annual Fran Bohlman Memorial Milton, Florida Open.

Kyle, son of PBA Champion Guppy Troup, went 9-3 in matchplay (Cheetah Pattern) and won $1900 for first place. He used a Storm Marvel™ Pearl and Roto Grip Outlaw™.

In Euless, Texas, Roto Grip staffer Paul McCordic of Sugar Land, Texas, won six of his eight matches to claim his first PBA Senior Regional title in the PBA Southwest Region Storm Texas Senior Open at AMF Euless Lanes on Sunday. McCordic has won seven standard PBA Regional titles, but hadn't won since 1991.

McCordic chased Ron Boroff of Mansfield, Texas, through qualifying and most of the round-robin match play finals after Boroff started the tournament with a 300 game and held the lead for 19 games. McCordic won his sixth and seventh matches with games of 287 and 247 to finally overtake Boroff going into the position round and then clinched the title with a 238-186 win over PBA Hall of Famer Mark Williams of Beaumont, Texas.

Bowlers using Storm and Roto Grip equipment won 18 titles on the 2011-12 PBA/PBA Senior Tours.
