Bowling News USA - February 22, 2012 Sandra Andersson Notches First EBT Title with Marvel Pearl™

In an eliminator final between three women and one man, Sandra Andersson of Sweden extended the women's winning streak on the European Bowling Tour to 13 consecutive seasons en route by claiming her first EBT title in the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2012.

Andersson used a Storm Marvel™ Pearl and Roto Grip Defiant™.

The HBS drew 236 players including 75 women. 48 players including 14 women survived the qualifying and advanced to the eliminator-format finals Sunday at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg, Netherlands.

The eliminator-format finals featured four-player groups who determine the champion in six two-game rounds. In each round the two lowest-scoring players after two games will be eliminated. The top eight qualifiers earned three byes, while qualifiers 9 to 16 bypassed the first two rounds.

Joining Andersson in the championship round were Ballmaster Open ranking winner and women's point ranking leader Krista Pöllänen, Finland, and Dutch international Ghislaine van der Tol, who was aiming for her fourth EBT title. The lone male competitor in the title race was Thomas Larsen, Denmark.

Andersson took a 16-pin lead behind a 231 in the first game and added 187 in game two to claim the title with 434 including eight pins handicap each game. Larsen, who had two solid games (213, 200) took second place with 413 and pocketed 6.000 Euro.

Pöllänen, a World Games and European Champions Cup winner, was five pins behind in third place worth 4.000 Euro. Van der Tol suffered a 166 in game two to finish in fourth place with 397 to pocket 2.000 Euro.

Women bowlers have won at least one title in each season since the inception of the European Bowling Tour in the year 2000.
